BP Bulb: A Blood Pressure Bulb, commonly referred to as a BP bulb, is a crucial component of manual blood pressure measurement devices, such as sphygmomanometers. It is typically a bulbous, squeezable component connected to the blood pressure cuff via tubing. When squeezed, the BP bulb inflates the cuff, creating pressure around the patient's arm. This inflation is necessary to temporarily cut off blood flow, allowing healthcare professionals to measure systolic and diastolic blood pressure by listening to the Korotkoff sounds with a stethoscope. The BP bulb is an integral part of traditional blood pressure measurement instruments used in clinical settings.
